When Covid moved teaching and learning online, we discovered how reliant we had been on meeting with students face-to-face, in real time, in a physical classroom. Designated exam periods, hands-on activities, lively discussions and more had to be quickly recast for a Zoom-centric and often asynchronous reality. With more foresight, we might have designed things from the outset to flex easily from one reality to the next. While we’re back in person, student and faculty absences due to illness, conference travel, and other competing priorities can disrupt the continuity of our best laid plans. In this session, we will explore how to decouple our assignments and assessments from any particular time, place, or mode of delivery and design with flexibility in mind.
