Kayla Iuliano, MHS is a T32 candidate with the department of Epidemiology. After learning that students had been impacted by university pesticide application as an undergraduate, Kayla knew she wanted to devote her career to environmental epidemiology. Since then, her work has led her across the country, including researching PFAS at EPA, masters and doctoral work at Johns Hopkins, and fieldwork in Arizona. She has sampled wells for heavy metals, led a biomonitoring project, and assisted in writing risk assessments for mining towns. Her doctoral work has focused on evaluating risk communication and clarity in public drinking water reports. She is passionate about engaging community members in her work and empowering them to learn how to ameliorate their environmental exposures.
