Join us for a conversation withBob Bauer, former White House counsel under President Barack Obama, former co-chair of the Presidential Commission on Election Administration, and former co-chair of the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States under President Biden, Professor of Practice and Distinguished Scholar in Residence and Co-Director of the Legislative and Regulatory Process Clinic at NYU School of Law; and Jack Goldsmith, former Head of Office of Legal Counsel, Assistant Attorney General, Learned Hand Professor of Law at Harvard University. This program is part of the Rockefeller Center's "Law and Democracy: The United States at 250" speaker series, and is presented as the 2025-2026 Thurlow M. Gordon 1906 Lecture. The Thurlow M. Gordon 1906 Lecture was established in honor of Thurlow Gordon, Class of 1906, in 1976 to bring "recognized authorities in some field of law" to campus for audience and discussion.

The conversation will be moderated by Benjamin Valentino, Nelson A. Rockefeller Professorship in Government, Associate Dean for the Social Sciences, Professor in the Government Department, and Coordinator, War and Peace Studies Program, Dickey Center for International Understanding, along with Dafna Linzer, Editorial Director and Executive Vice President, U.S. News & World Report.
