Join us for a screening of In Search of Phillis Wheatley Peters followed by a discussion with the filmmaker and Nicole Maskiell, Associate Professor of African and African American Studies.  In Search of Phillis Wheatley Peters is a new short documentary by Leslie Askew, grounded in archival research by historian Cornelia Dayton, that illuminates the final years of the first published Black American woman poet. The film traces her marriage to John Peters and her pursuit of family, dignity, and autonomy.
