Entangled Ecologies is a runway show where fashion meets tech. Organized by the Digital Arts program and the DALI lab, we explore how bodies, technologies, and environments weave together into living systems of expression.  We are exploring how clothing can move, sense, and respond. How might a dress breathe with its wearer? How might a circuit mimic a root system? How might machines grow gardens of their own? Borrowing ideas from kinetic sculture, our runway show and exhibition reconsiders the boundary between mechanisms and life.  We are curious! How might fashion become a playground for human-computer interaction, and a medium to express the entanglement of self, society, and ecology?

We're interested in the messy, beautiful connections between people, technology, and the more-than-human world. In a moment defined by accelerating computation and ecological collapse, we ask, "What does it mean to design with, reather than against the world around us?"

The work has been created by students and faculty across Dartmouth for nearly a year.  We work with textiles, sensors, and recylced materials to create fashion that reflects the ways we are all connected. Entangled Ecologies is funded by an Arts Integration Grant from the Hopkins Center, the DALI Lab, Digital Arts, and the Computer Science Department.

Please join our reception before the show, at 7 PM in the Top of the Hop.  Runway starts at 8 PM in the Roth Performing Arts Studio.  Free and Open to the public.  We anticipate a sold out show, and recommend you arrive early.
