Baker Bells Festival: Keynote Lecture by Dr. Tiffany Ng
This keynote lecture and pre-concert talk will delve into the history of tower bells and carillon in North America, public sound studies, and sonic legislation.
Guest speaker Dr. Tiffany Ng is Associate Professor of Music and University Carillonist at the University of Michigan. She is an energetic advocate of diversity in contemporary music, publishing several open source bibliographies on carillon repertoire by marginalized composers. She has premiered or revived over sixty pieces by emerging and established composers, pioneered models for interactive “crowdsourced” carillon performances, and significantly increased the American repertoire for carillon and electronics. We are delighted to have her presence at this and many other Baker Bells Festival events.
Join us after the talk for a reception and launch party for the Century of Civic Sound Exhibit in Reiss Hall, celebrating 100 years of Dartmouth's Baker Bells. Registration not required but appreciated.
