Thirteen Dartmouth alumni and three current graduate students recently received 2010 Graduate Research Fellowships from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The award recognizes and supports graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in the United States and abroad.
“The NSF fellowships are among the most prestigious awards an individual graduate student can receive in science research,” says Dartmouth’s Dean of Graduate Studies Brian Pogue, also a professor of engineering. “The students apply for them early in their graduate study program, and the awards are given out in recognition of high merit and potential. We are fortunate to have the support of Chemistry Professor Joe Belbruno who, in collaboration with the Graduate Studies Office, runs an outstanding workshop and mentors students in writing their applications. It is very encouraging to see so many Dartmouth alumni and students receiving fellowships this year.”
