In the nearly  40 years since violinist David Harrington co-founded the Kronos Quartet, this “chamber ensemble [with] the mindset of a rock band” (Washington Post) has revolutionized the string quartet, digging its bows not only into the breadth of the established repertoire but also rock, jazz, roots and world music, as well as a staggering number of commissioned compositions. The latter is the focus of the quartet’s Hopkins Center performance on Saturday, October 2, in Spaulding Auditorium.
