Christmas Tree Lighting

Dartmouth’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting will feature a 35-foot fir donated by Keith Quinton and Barb Fildes of Hanover, who will also light the tree. The event will feature a performance by the Glee Club under the direction of Louis Burkot, and hot chocolate and cookies will be served. The event is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine.

Volunteer with Students Fighting for Hunger

Give back during the holiday season by volunteering for Students Fighting Hunger, a Tucker Foundation organization dedicated to providing healthy meals to prevent hunger in the Upper Valley. The organization not only provides weekly meals but also creates a communal atmosphere. “It is definitely a highlight of my week!” says Tara Kedia, volunteer and co-chair. “One of my favorite parts about being a volunteer is the strong sense of community.”

Hood Museum of Art Holiday Open House

The Hood’s holiday event is a lively, family-friendly evening with scavenger hunts, door prizes, and light refreshments. The event will include door prizes for both children and adults, including tickets to this year’s Christmas Revels and a one-year membership to the Hood Museum, as well as performances by members of the Christmas Revels at 6 p.m. and the Hanover High School Jazz Quintet at 6:30 p.m.

The Christmas Revels 2010:  A French Canadian Celebration of the Winter Solstice

The 60-member Revels North will present the magical tale of “The Flying Canoe,” with zesty Québécois music, dance, and stories to celebrate the New Year. Under the guidance of artistic director Maureen Burford, the performance will feature narrator Debra Wise, and four internationally renowned Québécois performers: step dancer Pierre Chartrand, fiddler Éric Favreau, accordion master Stéphane Landry and singer/guitarist Bernard Simard.

Hanover Inn Holiday Lunch Buffet and Grinch Gingerbread House

Enjoy a delicious meal with family and friends at the Hanover Inn’s spectacular holiday lunch buffet in the Daniel Webster Room. Also, be sure to note the incredible Grinch-inspired gingerbread house in the Inn’s lobby, made by Hanover Inn bakers Pam Brochu and Leigh Ann Arquiett. Reservations for the buffet are recommended.
