The $5,000 prize, established by the Learning and The Brain Foundation and the International Mind, Brain, and Education Society, honors an individual dedicated to reconciling neuroscience and education. The funds are to be used to further relationships between educators and neuroscientists. Coch, the third recipient of this annual award, intends to use her prize to support student researchers in her Reading Brains Lab.

“All of the research that I have conducted at Dartmouth has involved undergraduate students as co-investigators, and I am thrilled to be able to support students in my lab through this award,” Coch says. “I am very honored to receive this award and to have the Department of Education at Dartmouth be recognized in this way.

“To my knowledge,” she continues, “we are the only undergraduate education department to have an interdisciplinary mind, brain, and education focus.”
