English Professor Wins Two Journalism Awards

The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) has announced that Jeff Sharlet, the Mellon Assistant Professor of English at Dartmouth, has won both first and second place in feature writing in its 2011 Excellence in Journalism Awards. He was named first-place winner for his article in Harpers, entitled “Straight Man’s Burden” and second for his article in The Advocate, “Dangerous Liaisons.” Sharlet’s Harper’s article also won the 2011 MOLLY National Journalism Prize.

The awards will be presented at NLGJA’s National Convention & LGBT Media Summit, August 25-28 2011. Read the full press release, published by NLGLA on 06/30/11.
