In high school, Mindy Kaling ’01—now star, writer, and executive producer of NBC’s The Office—was a bit of an outcast. But then she came to Dartmouth and “felt incredibly special.”

Kaling graduated from Dartmouth with a drama degree. She tells NPR that, as an Indian-American woman who wanted to write comedies, “I became deeply interesting.”

Now Kaling is even more interesting, having published her first book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), this week.
