The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society has chosen Ian Baker, Sherman Fairchild Professor of Engineering, as one of four individuals for its 2012 Class of Fellows. This is the highest honor bestowed on members and recognizes them as eminent authorities in their discipline.

Baker’s fellowship citation praises his “pioneering contributions to the characterization of microstructure and mechanical properties of metals and materials.”
