Featuring music from Ramsey Lewis’ award-winning gospel CD, With One Voice, the Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble and Dartmouth College Gospel Choir will perform their directors’ own arrangements of works from that collection as well as Quincy Jones’ version of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, as well as blues- and Latin-inspired favorites from the repertoires of both the Gospel Choir and the Coast.
Composed almost entirely of non-music majors, the Coast specializes in the music of the African-American and Afro-Caribbean jazz traditions. The Gospel Choir performs a wide variety of gospel music ranging from spirituals to modern day contemporary hits.
