Following the recommendation of New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch, who today declared a state of emergency, Dartmouth has released all faculty and staff at 3 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2012, except those performing services essential to the support of the operation of our residential community. Such services are those needed to maintain core student services, campus safety and security, and vital patient services.

All 3 p.m. classes are cancelled, as is the Faculty of Arts & Sciences meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. Additionally, all Dartmouth-sponsored events for the rest of the day are cancelled, effective immediately. Dartmouth libraries will close at 4 p.m.

The Class of 1953 Commons dining facility will remain open until 8:30 p.m. All other dining facilities are open until 8 p.m.

Students and faculty members can be assured that the integrity and safety of their work in laboratories and other locations are secure and protected.

Dartmouth anticipates resumption of normal operations tomorrow, Tuesday, October 30. However, employees and students should monitor the following resources for updates:
