Kudos recognizes Dartmouth faculty and staff who have received an award or honor.
John DeSantis, the cataloging and metadata services librarian at Baker-Berry Library, received the New England Technical Services Librarians Award for Excellence in Technical Services for “over 25 years of innovative service in cataloging, metadata, collection services, professional ethics, and Slavic and GLBT librarianship . . . for his dedication to his profession; and for his intelligent and strong voice in service to the future of his profession.“
Ivy Schweitzer, a professor of English and women’s and gender studies, will receive the Modern Language Association’s Division for American Literature Before 1800 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Society of Early Americanists Eighth Biennial Conference February 28-March 2, in Savannah, Ga. The award recognizes the “extraordinary contributions of scholars to the field of early American studies.”
Professor Emeritus Jeremy Rutter received the 2013 Archaeological Institute of America’s Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Archaeological Achievement at the organization’s annual meeting in January. The award recognizes “a scholar who has made distinguished contributions to archaeology through his or her fieldwork, publications, and/or teaching.” Rutter, the Sherman Fairchild Professor Emeritus in the Humanities and professor emeritus of classical studies, specializes in Aegean prehistory, particularly the ceramics of the Greek Bronze Age and of the Late Bronze Age on Crete.
A number of Dartmouth writers are represented in the 2013 issue of Bloodroot Literary Magazine, an annual literary journal based in Thetford Center, Vt. Dartmouth authors published in the issue are: Christina Cook, senior writer in the Office of the President; Phyllis Katz, senior lecturer in classics and women’s and gender studies; Parker Towle, adjunct associate professor of neurology at the Geisel School of Medicine; and Ivy Schweitzer, a professor of English and women’s and gender studies.
