On Friday, September 20, 2013, during his formal Inauguration as Dartmouth’s 18th president, Phil Hanlon announced two new initiatives to advance student learning, writes the Valley News.

President Hanlon said the College will create a Society of Fellows program that will bring dozens of postdoctoral fellows to campus, and an Innovation Center and New Venture Incubator, which will offer support to student entrepreneurs, the newspaper reports.

Before a crowd of nearly 3,000, President Hanlon received the Wentworth Bowl from former President Jim Yong Kim, a symbolic handing over of the presidency that has been a Dartmouth tradition since the College’s earliest day, notes the Valley News.
