There will be two sessions on Monday to allow for community-wide participation. The conversations, which are open to faculty, students, staff, and alumni, will run from noon to 1 p.m., and again from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., on the ground floor of Fahey Hall. The discussions will be hosted by Mike Wooten, director of residential education, and Inge-Lise Ameer, senior associate dean of the College.

Wooten says that based on the initiatives President Phil Hanlon ’77 announced during fall term, the College is looking at developing housing options centered on “learning communities” that include a “right to return.” These ideas will be part of Monday’s discussion, he says.

The Moving Dartmouth Forward series is designed to give community members an opportunity to discuss ideas related to Hanlon’s initiatives and generate new ideas, and to advance implementation of the president’s plans to ensure that Dartmouth remains the premiere undergraduate teaching institution while deepening the impact of its scholarship nationally and internationally.

The first session, held February 3, took up the challenges and opportunities of the D-Plan, Dartmouth’s year-round academic calendar. The committee looking at the D-Plan—chaired by Professor Bruce Sacerdote, the Richard S. Braddock 1963 Professor in Economics—is still taking comments on the issue through the Improve Dartmouth website, Sacerdote says.

Below is the current schedule of sessions, with presenters for each listed. Other topics will be added to the schedule as details become available.

  • February 17: Enhancing Dartmouth’s housing options Michael Wooten, director of residential education Inge-Lise Ameer, senior associate dean of the college
