The creative talents of more than 50 Dartmouth employees will be showcased at the eighth annual ArtWorks exhibition on March 19 and 20.
Since 2006, Dartmouth’s Office of Human Resources has invited Dartmouth’s artists to share their talents with the community through ArtWorks, a non-juried show and arts festival that takes place in Alumni Hall in the Hopkins Center for the Arts. There will be many exhibits and performances, including paintings, photography, video, poetry, live music, and more.

“I think the last time I did a gig outside of my living room was probably my senior year in Alumni Hall,” says Jeff Hafner ’02, managing director at the Dartmouth College Fund. Hafner is looking forward to bringing his guitar back to the Hopkins Center. “I’m excited about shaking the rust off and having the chance to put some songs together and play for friends and colleagues. It’s a great opportunity and a fun event.”
ArtWorks 2014 opens March 19 with a reception and performances from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Top of the Hop at the Hopkins Center. Michael Taylor, director of the Hood Museum of Art, and Lynn Baker, interim vice president of human resources, will speak.
“Artworks is a wonderful opportunity for Dartmouth faculty and staff to share their artistic talents with colleagues across campus,” says Baker. “I am always so impressed with both the beauty and the variety of the exhibits and performances. Everyone should make it a must see!” Exhibitors will be showing sculpture, photography, hand-blown glass, textiles, painting, drawing, and a variety of crafts.

Corinne Arndt Girouard, web producer for the Office of Public Affairs, is participating in her second ArtWorks show. “Although I take photographs as a small part of my job at Dartmouth, I don’t always get to shoot subjects of my own choosing,” she says. “ArtWorks gives me the opportunity to share my photographs with an audience other than my close friends and family.”
The festival continues on March 20, with the exhibit in Alumni Hall open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Live performances run in the Top of the Hop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Office of Human Resources has posted a schedule of events.
