Dartmouth Now offers a weekly roundup of noteworthy events on campus. 

January: Events for Dartmouth’s 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. celebration continue through the month. 

Jan. 29: The 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Social Justice Awards honorees take part in a panel discussion that starts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Georgiopoulos Classroom, located in Raether Hall at the Tuck School of Business. The discussion will be followed by a reception.

Jan. 30:  The Hood Museum of Art hosts a two-day symposium centered on the museum’s current exhibition, “Poseidon and the Sea: Myth, Cult, and Daily Life.” Exhibition curator Seth Pevnick ’99, acting director, chief curator, and the Richard E. Perry Curator of Greek and Roman Art at the Tampa Museum of Art, gives the keynote address at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, in the Hood auditorium. Symposium sessions continue beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Hood auditorium. 

Jan. 30:  Renowned Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi leads a “Spotlight” post-performance discussion in the Hopkins Center’s Spaulding Auditorium, at 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, directly following his 8 p.m. performance with The Black Spirits. The discussion is free and open to the public; show tickets are available through the Hopkins Center box office.

Feb 2: Ever wondered, “What is the Book Arts Workshop?” A short tour and orientation to the studios and equipment begins at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, in Room 21 of Baker Library, will answer that question, and show off some of the things people have made there.

Feb. 3: There are two chances today to see talented Dartmouth students perform: The semi finals for Dartmouth Idol 2015 start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the Hopkins Center’s Spaulding Auditorium. And in the Hopkins Center’s Bentley Theater, the 10-minute Play Festival, an evening of short dramas written and produced by students, begins at 7:30 p.m.
