Dartmouth’s Martin Luther King Jr. events have so far featured a multifaith celebration, a candlelight vigil, music, and the Social Justice Awards ceremony, with more events to come. The keynote speakers were Kianny Antigua, a senior lecturer in Spanish, and a poet, translator, and fiction writer, and Matthew Delmont, the Sherman Fairchild Distinguished Professor of History. The commemoration continues through March 1.

Vice President for Institutional Diversity and Equity Evelynn Ellis suggested that during the days of celebrating the life and work of Dr. King, “we pull each other up, push each other along, and, when needed, carry each other to a place of compassion, kindness, equity and peace. … It is only in our willingness to help all others rise that we will rise ourselves.”
