Marisa Palucis on NASA’s Mars Mission

The assistant professor discusses the launch of the Perseverance rover.

On July 30, NASA launched the Perseverance rover on a mission to collect rock and soil samples from the Jezero Crater on Mars. Marisa Palucis, an assistant professor of earth sciences, discusses the mission and its importance for future exploration. “I think a really exciting outcome of this particular mission, and our current Mars exploration, is the idea that in possibly as soon as the 2030s we’ll actually be bringing humans to explore the red planet,” Palucis says.
