Excursions included canoeing on the Connecticut River and hiking the Appalachian Trail.

To help first-year students connect and get to know the area, the Outdoor Programs Office planned small hiking and canoeing trips around the Upper Valley. The excursions all left from campus on foot and students wore masks and maintained physical distance.

“Being inside by yourself for two weeks is a challenge to anyone, particularly a young person who’s come to an area that they don’t know,” says Willow Nilsen, a program coordinator for student advising. “We really wanted folks to be able to get outside, move their bodies, and connect with people.”
