Undefeated rugby vies for national title and football plays for 20th Ivy crown.

Undefeated Dartmouth women’s rugby is headed to West Point on Saturday to battle Army for the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association championship after beating Brown in the semifinal 56-5 at home. It was the eighth consecutive rout by the team that went 8-0 for the season.

This is the hardest-hitting, most physically aggressive defensive team in the league,” says head coach Katie Dowty. “It’s very hard to live with the pressure our defense can put you under. We have plenty left in the tank and are ready to play our best rugby yet this weekend in the national championship.”

Big Green football is bound for the season finale at Brown this weekend, playing for a 20th Ivy League championship after cruising to a 41-7 win over Cornell at home last Saturday. The win was even more meaningful because it was a loss to Cornell in 2019 that spoiled Dartmouth’s undefeated season. The team heads into the final game with a 5-1 league record, tied with Princeton for first in the Ivy League.

“The fun thing is to hear how much fun the guys are having, how much the guys love each other, and you see it. It’s sincere,” Coach Buddy Teevens ’79, the Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach, told the Valley News after the game.
