Undergraduates have an opportunity to inform Dartmouth’s plans to build new student housing on Lyme Road near Garipay Field, north of the central Hanover campus, says Joanna Whitcomb, director of campus planning.

Students next week will receive an email survey about the planned apartment-style living complex, which would house approximately 400 students. In the short-term, the new facility is intended to create a “swing space” that would allow Dartmouth to complete necessary renovations on the majority of its existing residence halls over the next 10 years.

The survey, which takes about 5 minutes to complete, will assess student interest in apartment-style living and solicit input on the design, as well as potential amenities, landscape use, transportation, and parking.

“We want to hear from students to help us design and create housing that is successful,” Whitcomb says.

Students who complete the survey will be entered to win gift cards to local coffee shops, including The Dirt Cowboy Café, My Brigadeiro, Still North Books, The Nest Kitchen, and Umpleby’s Bakery and Café.

In addition to the survey, undergraduates are invited to attend a virtual student town hall about the project at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
