The machine shop in Cummings Hall enables students, faculty, and researchers to design and build devices safely and effectively.

In this video, Carolina Almonte ’20, Thayer ’22, discusses her work as a teaching assistant at the MShop and how she wants to use her biomedical engineering education to bring more accessible health care to the Dominican Republic, where she was raised before moving to New York City in middle school.

“You learn to see things from a different perspective, and it’s a lot easier to navigate your classes when you can put a physical thing to the theoretical that you are learning,” Almonte says of the machine shop experience.
