This year being the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, students in Carolyn Dever’s first-year seminar class Reading Jane Austen had a special opportunity—to create an exhibit honoring the English writer.
For Love or Money? Jane Austen at 250 will be on display in Baker-Berry Library through June 12.
Throughout winter term, the class worked with Jay Satterfield, head of Rauner Special Collections Library, and Laura Barrett, head of teaching and learning at Dartmouth Libraries, to learn how to handle archival materials and to research Austen, the time in which she lived, and various editions of her novels, focusing on Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Persuasion.
