Ten students in December traveled to Rome, Umbria, and Tuscany as part of a sustainable food systems immersion trip sponsored by the Sustainability Office.

They visited with farmers, chefs, and others and learned about crucial connections between landscape, climate, and culture. A key goal was to advance the Dartmouth Climate Collaborative’s mission to cultivate climate-conscious citizens through hands-on learning and to explore the importance of food and sustainability.

The trip started with Food at the Nexus of Territory, Tradition, and Climate Change, an international symposium co-sponsored by Dartmouth and the American Academy in Rome.
