Jeff Immelt ’78, the inaugural Teevens Center Leadership Fellow, joined Duncan Simpson, director of the Teevens Center for Peak Performance, for a candid discussion at the Top of the Hop on April 29.
The former chairman and CEO of General Electric talked about leadership, adaptability, failure, decision-making, and helping people and teams move forward through rapid change.
Drawing on his experience leading GE through periods of significant transformation and global disruption, Immelt also shared practical lessons on what it means to lead under pressure, build culture, navigate setbacks, and continue learning over time.
This event marked the launch of the Teevens Center Leadership Fellow Program, which brings respected leaders to Dartmouth for meaningful engagement with students, faculty, and staff.
Grounded in the legacy of Buddy Teevens ’79, the Big Green football coach who was a national leader in reducing concussions, the program reflects the Teevens Center’s commitment to helping individuals and teams perform at their best, lead with purpose, and thrive in demanding environments.
Immelt and Teevens were football teammates, and Immelt, a math major, served on the Dartmouth Board of Trustees from 2008 to 2016.
