Dartmouth received two Circle of Excellence Awards earlier this month from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education in the areas of communications and fundraising.
The Office of Communications won a silver award in digital campaigns for leading higher education conversations through President Sian Leah Beilock’s LinkedIn newsletter, News and Views From the Green.
The communications office created the series with President Beilock in 2025 as a way to engage in timely conversations about higher education, from the growing public debate about its role in society to challenges posed by rapid technological change. The newsletter connects Dartmouth’s institutional priorities—including dialogue across differences, student well-being, sustainability, and innovation in teaching and research—with broader societal challenges, and offers tangible examples of how Dartmouth is working to address them.
“Dartmouth’s innovation, impact, and transformative teaching depend on the talent and creativity of our entire community,” says Senior Vice President for Communications and Government Relations Justin Anderson. “We were inspired to experiment with an evolving and increasingly global platform that would allow President Beilock to share Dartmouth’s story with those who know us well and those who don’t yet know us at all. I’m thrilled with the results and proud of the team’s work.”
The newsletter frequently points to articles created for Dartmouth News by Office of Communications writers, media relations officers, and communications partners across campus, including the Geisel School of Medicine, Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, the School of Arts and Sciences, Thayer School of Engineering, and Tuck School of Business.
Beilock works closely with Director of Digital Engagement Erin Supinka, who leads Dartmouth’s social media team, on the content and design of each issue.
“Using the institution’s president as a thought leader was impactful,” said the CASE judges, who also lauded Beilock’s proactive approach.
News and Views “is an excellent example of pairing the right channel with the right message and right goals,” the judges wrote. “This is a strong model for other institutions, with a clear fit between the strategy, platform, and strong content.”
Tuck School of Business won a bronze award for annual/regular giving campaigns for Tuck 125, an alumni-focused mini-campaign marking the school’s 125th anniversary.
The campaign brought together alumni at events in Hanover and in cities around the world, convened a fundraising initiative that nearly doubled the total value of endowed scholarship funds, and established the 125th Society to recognize multi-year annual fund commitments of $125,000 or more. In the process, as one nominator wrote, Tuck 125 also “strengthened alumni pride.”
“A milestone anniversary is an opportunity to invest in an institution’s next chapter,” says Liz Nuñez, chief advancement officer at Tuck. “Our 125th anniversary campaign was intentionally designed so that every alum could find a meaningful way to participate—celebrating our shared history, deepening lifelong connections, and strengthening one of Tuck’s greatest assets: an engaged community that is deeply committed to one another, to Tuck, and to Dartmouth, and that will sustain the school for generations to come.”
The judges said the campaign delivered “exceptional” results via a highly cost-efficient strategy and called it “a masterclass in coordination, effectively weaving annual giving and leadership donor components.”
“The team successfully engaged younger alumni alongside major gift prospects through clever, simple marketing and high-level internal execution,” they wrote. Tuck 125 is “a fantastic example of an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ effort that successfully sustains donor momentum between major comprehensive campaigns.”
