Can clothing move, sense, and respond? Can it be more than meets the eye?

The Entangled Ecologies runway show features student and faculty fashion designs that express the interwoven complexities of our environment, bodies and more.

Entangled Ecologies is a runway show where fashion meets technology. Organized by the Digital Arts program and the DALI lab, we explore how clothing can move, sense and respond, to express the complexities of our bodies, technologies and environments. Borrowing ideas from kinetic sculpture, our runway show and exhibition reconsiders the boundary between mechanisms and life. How might fashion become a playground for human-computer interaction, and a medium to express the entanglement of self, society and ecology?

The work has been created by students and faculty across Dartmouth for nearly a year. We work with textiles, sensors and upcycled materials to create fashion that reflects the ways we are all connected. Entangled Ecologies is funded by an Arts Integration Grant from the Hopkins Center, the DALI Lab, Digital Arts and the Computer Science Department.

Tickets are free and available at digitalfashion.dartmouth.edu.

Please join our pre-show reception at 7 pm in the Top of the Hop. The runway show starts at 8 pm in the Roth Studio Theater.
