Yahoo! Voices writer Jonathan Frahm starts his review of a new EP recording by Michael Odokara-Okigbo ’12 with a question: Will fans who heard the singer when he was lead vocalist with the Dartmouth Aires on NBC’s Sing-Off be pleased?

No doubt about it, he concludes.

“Upon first listen, it is completely obvious that Odokara-Okigbo, under the catchy moniker Michael O., has written and co-produced a work of art that is decidedly extremely different from the music that he had performed with the Aires, which might make some fans of his performances on The Sing-Off a bit nervous,” writes the reviewer. An EP (for “extended play”) is a recording that has fewer songs than a regular CD.

“However, by the halfway mark of the EP’s first track, Invincible, it is clear that this change can be ushered in with open arms.”

In summary, writes Frahm, “In the Beginning serves its purpose in providing a six-track masterpiece listening experience that will get current fans of the notable Aires vocalist out of their seats dancing and will gather a whole new slew of fans for the aspiring artist, as well.”
