Members of the Class of 2024 have had a different kind of welcome to the Dartmouth community. They experienced the traditional rituals that mark the start of their College experience—but as sophomores, not as first-year students, due to the disruption last fall caused by the pandemic. On Sunday, they signed the Dartmouth citizenship pledge, met with President Philip J. Hanlon ’77, connected with 50-year alumni partners from the Class of ’74, and set out on a candlelit walk to the Bema for the twilight ceremony.

“We’re excited and delighted for the Class of ’24 to have this time to come together and share these milestone events,” said Scott C. Brown, interim dean of the College. Brown spoke at the Collis Center for Student Involvement before the start of the twilight walk, where he was presented with the citizenship pledge book, signed by the newly matriculated ’24s.
