How One Man Tried to Stop the Holocaust

In 1942, Jewish leaders in Poland asked a young Polish cavalry officer, Jan Karski, to carry a desperate message to Allied leaders informing them of Hitler's effort to exterminate the Jews of Europe. To be able to deliver an authentic report, Karski toured the Warsaw Ghetto in disguise and later volunteered to be smuggled into a Nazi concentration camp. He subsequently met with top Allied leaders, including President Roosevelt, to deliver his message. This special lecture will focus on Karski's extraordinary experience by the co-author of a book about the man, recently revised and updated.

This feature-length documentary will be presented immediately after Mr. Wood's presentation. The film's director, Slawomir Grunberg, will be on hand to answer questions following the film.
