The Geisel Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement and Dean's Office are honored to host the upcoming Juneteenth Town Hall on Racism and Structural Violence on June 19, 5:00 - 6:30 pm. We invite all of the Geisel and Dartmouth community to come together during the virtual Town Hall to learn, reflect, and honor the lives lost to anti-Black racism.

We are privileged to announce that the keynote speaker is Dr. Camara Jones, a Family Medicine physician and epidemiologist, and a Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Dr. Jones is also a Senior Fellow at the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine and a Past President of the American Public Health Association. She has also published landmark articles in critical race theory defining institutional racism, personally mediated racism, and internalized racism using allegories such as "The Gardener's Tale."

Her keynote will be followed by a presentation by Dr. Judy Gomez, an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Connecticut College who specializes in racial trauma. Dr. Gomez was born and raised in the Washington Heights neighborhood of NYC and is the daughter of immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. The philosophy informing her work centers on the understanding that individuals’ experiences are influenced by the contexts in which they are embedded. Her experiences, both personal and professional, have informed her passion for anti-racist social justice, empowerment, and liberation, which cuts across her clinical-research work, mentoring, and teaching.

This virtual event is for the Dartmouth community. Visit this page for more information, including the Zoom link. Please note that a Dartmouth NetID is required for access.
