This is a very exciting time in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia research. The Alzheimer’s Association is confident that better treatments, earlier detection, and prevention strategies will be available in the foreseeable future. The speed with which those achievements occur is directly related to the commitment to Alzheimer’s and dementia research.

The Alzheimer’s Association leads or supports a wide variety of initiatives to accelerate the process of developing new and better treatments. The Alzheimer’s Association is the largest private, nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia research. Current research investments total more than $235 million—providing funding for more than 650 projects in 39 countries.

Exciting areas of research include development of biomarkers to provide accurate and timely diagnosis, and modifiable risk factors that may prevent or delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
