A new Dartmouth Library exhibit, "Altered States: An Exhibit of Books Broken, Censored, Marked Up, and Made Art,” is now on display until March 17, 2023 in the Class of 1965 Galleries in Rauner Special Collections Library. This exhibit challenges the notion of books as static objects by exploring the myriad ways in which we change texts. We write in their margins, cut them up, censor them, throw them out, re-bind them, and create new art with them.

The exhibit was curated by Daniel Abosso, Subject Librarian, installed by Lizzie Curran, Assistant Conservator, and the poster was designed by Samantha Milnes, Collections Management Assistant at Rauner Special Collections Library.
