Livestream via Zoom

Join us for a discussion on the close-working relationship and scholarly exchange between the Jewish Studies and Middle Eastern Studies programs at Dartmouth presented by two Dartmouth experts. Learn how collaborative teaching and cross-disciplinary dialogue helped the Dartmouth community to learn about and consider the future of Israel-Palestine following the recent conflict in the Middle East.

Eli M. Black Distinguished Professor of Jewish Studies and Chair of the Jewish Studies Department Susannah Heschel and the James Wright Professor and Chair of Middle Eastern Studies Tarek El-Ariss will address their own decades-long community-building work to create a culture of scholarship and dialogue. Their co-taught course has gained national attention, and in this special edition, they will talk about how they teach together to Dartmouth students and how these dialogues prepare us to deal with crises when they arise.

The event is an opportunity to learn about their expertise and background, history of their collaboration, and the course they currently teach at Dartmouth.

Questions for the speakers may be submitted via the registration form.
