Physics & Astronomy - Cosmology Seminar - Mauro Pieroni, CERN
Title: "Testing Fundamental Physics and Cosmology with Gravitational Waves"
Abstract: My talk discusses the prospects of constraining fundamental
physics with Gravitational Wave (GW) detection. In particular, I will
focus on Stochastic GW Background (SGWB) measurements. After a general
introduction to the topic, I will discuss a few mechanisms (such as
inflation, phase transitions and cosmic strings) capable of generating
large SGWBs and show how GW measurements with LISA and Pulsar Timing
Array (PTA) experiments might constrain the parameter spaces of these
models. The last part of my seminar will be devoted to conclusions and
future perspectives for the research field.
