Advanced registration required: dartgo.org/e57dec24
Join Dartmouth’s Dr. Manish K. Mishra & Professor Elizabeth Carpenter-Song in a conversation with Dr. Bhunnoo about a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the scientific linkages between our minds, bodies, communities, and music.
Across cultures, music and sound have long been central to healing, engaging the mind, body, and spirit. Music is not a thing but an activity. To music is to take part in a musical experience - encompassing listening, performing, composing, moving , feeling, — which reveals profound insights into ourselves and our social nature. Dr. Bhunnoo will discuss his use of medical and social sciences methods to understand how musicking emerges from complex processes.
He will then introduce his innovative research proposal, Biopsychosocial Feedback Music: Sound Minds & Sonic Bodies, a bio-responsive sound device leveraging machine learning and AI to create immersive 3D sonic environments for both therapeutic applications and sound art installations.
