I AM THE DREAM: Past, Present and Future MLK Awards Luncheon
Theme: "Building Community and Uniting a Nation"
The 4th annual Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. I am the Dream: The Past, Present & Future awards ceremony will take place on Jan. 19, 2026, from 12:00pm-2:00pm in Auditorium E&F at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). The community event honors the life and legacy of MLK for what would have been his 97th birthday.
The theme for this year’s Luncheon and Forum is:
“Building Community and Uniting a Nation”
As we commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we within the Geisel, Dartmouth, and Dartmouth Health community can reflect on his impact and work to end hunger and food insecurity as part of his civil rights fight. Dr. King once said, "Why should there be hunger and deprivation in any land, in any city, at any table, when man has the resources and the scientific know-how to provide all mankind with the basic necessities of life?" His question resonates today, as we tackle food insecurity in our communities. Dr. King understood that food equity was a critical component of social justice. Please join members of the Geisel, Dartmouth, and Dartmouth Health community as we salute the 2026 awardees for their achievements and service to our community and for representing the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Uché Blackstock, founder and CEO of Advancing Health Equity and New York Times bestselling author of Legacy: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine, a memoir that ties her family’s journey to the history of American medicine and offers a vision for better care.
