Traditional materials are typically designed to perform a single function, which often results in bulky and complex systems. As the demand for miniaturized devices, reduced energy consumption, and streamlined system integration continues to grow, there is an increasing need for materials that can perform multiple functions simultaneously and reliably.

In this talk, I will present a design-to-manufacturing framework that integrates material architecture and composition optimization with rapid prototyping to enable targeted multifunctional performance. By incorporating multiple artificial intelligence approaches, this framework enhances both design efficiency and predictive accuracy. Through several representative examples, I will demonstrate how rational architectural design and informed material selection can substantially influence performance in applications such as sensing, energy harvesting, and actuation.
