Dartmouth Healthcare Foundations' Eric Eichler ’57 Foundations in Medicine & Humanities Seminar

Why Service Matters: Lessons from medicine and social work

Taking care of your community is at the heart of all healthcare initiatives. There are many ways to be helpful in community service endeavors. And similar to any other practice, there are ways to be more skillful with guidance. In this seminar, we will learn from two expert community advocates with decades of experience working closely with patients, families, and community members. Participants will gain new insights on how to be an advocate, how to ground a career in service, and skills to sustain this difficult and meaningful work.

All are invited to join Dr. Manish K. Mishra & Prof. Elizabeth Carpenter-Song as they welcome Former Director of the Upper Valley Haven (uppervalleyhaven.org) Sara Kobylenski and Pediatrician Steven Chapman to guide a conversation that will help students develop skills to optimize their work in community service efforts.
