Kim Thúy is one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Francophone literature. Through her personal and lyrical writing, she explores themes of migration, memory, identity, and the experience of rebuilding one’s life in a new country. Her debut novel, Ru, which draws on her family’s experience as Vietnamese refugees, received the Governor General’s Literary Award for French-language fiction and the Grand Prix littéraire Archambault. She has since published several acclaimed works, including Mãn and Vi, which explore the complex connections between food, memory, displacement, and belonging. Her first play, Ấm, premiered at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in fall 2025.

She will be joining the French 18 students for a conversation on food and life.
