It’s long been rumored that July, with a new crop of residents fresh out of med school starting at teaching hospitals, is the worst month to get sick. A recent study at Dartmouth Medical School aims to find out if this “July Effect” is real. VPR’s Jane Lindholm spoke with Kevin Spratt, a methodologist and statistician in the department of orthopedics at Dartmouth Medical School who co-authored study that aimed to find out.
