Dartmouth Rugby Adopts Army Unit Serving in Afghanistan

Body

Morale-boosting packages filled with food and gifts have been sent to Delta Troop of 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry, based in Afghanistan, thanks to the Dartmouth men’s rugby team. The connection between the troops and the team was facilitated by the “Adopt-a-Unit” program of the organization Americans Supporting Americans. The rugby team counts several Marine and Army veterans on its current roster and among its alumni, and the players who initiated the adoption, Jack Boger ’13 and John Kordahl ’12, have personal connections to the military as well. Kordahl’s brother, James Kordahl ’10, was recently commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps, and Boger took his first step towards the same goal with a summer spent at Marine Corps Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Va.
