Dartmouth’s United Way fundraising campaign is off to a strong start. Just two weeks into the 10-week effort, 55 percent of the $225,000 goal has been met. With one week left for employees to take advantage of the 50 percent matching gift challenge from anonymous local donors, campaign organizers are hoping even more of the goal will be achieved before the holidays.

“Thanks to this unprecedented matching gift program, from now until December 22, if you give a dollar to United Way, that dollar is actually worth $1.50,” says Dana Hanson, director of resource development at Granite United Way-Upper Valley Region. “If you’d like to make a gift to United Way, this is an ideal time to do it.”

Dartmouth has hosted campaigns for United Way for nearly 30 years. In 2009, more than 23,000 residents of the Upper Valley were helped by United Way partner agencies.
