Performance by Dartmouth Musician Called One of 2010’s Best in Classical Music

Doug Perkins, instructor of percussion in Dartmouth’s Department of Music, led a performance in New York City’s Central Park last summer which earned a place in New York Magazine’s top 10 events in classical music for 2010. The presentation of Persephassa, a piece for six percussionists by the Greek composer Iannis Xenakis, was staged on and around Central Park Lake as part of the Make Music New York festival, held June 21, 2010. Time Out New York also included the performance in its “Best of 2010” in the category Classical and Opera.

Read a review of the performance published on June 22, 2010, in The New York Times.
