Keeping up with Alexi Pappas ’12 is difficult, and not just because she runs the mile in 4:54. Like a typical Dartmouth student, she is taking three spring term classes and enjoying the hands on, faculty-directed research that’s a hallmark of a Dartmouth education. In her case, that means working year-round on a documentary with Professor Jeffrey Ruoff and being mentored by Professor Bill Phillips of film and media studies. An English major with a 3.75 GPA, Pappas also balances class work with track practice six days a week plus weekend meets. The Alameda, Calif., native, who will captain the cross country team next year, also helps lead her sorority and writes and performs with improv and drama groups.

Photographers Joseph Mehling ’69 and Gavin Huang ’14 accompanied Pappas through a packed spring term day.
