Ivy League Schools Are Limiting Football Practices to Reduce Head Injuries (Bloomberg)

Recommendations of a committee on football concussions co-chaired by Dartmouth President Jim Yong Kim will be implemented by the Ivy League this fall, Bloomberg News reported.

The committee’s report proposed that the league suspend football players for intentional helmet hits and limit full-contact practices to prevent concussions.

Given the potential long-term consequences, “it is important to minimize the likelihood and severity of hits to the head,” Kim said, who chaired the committee with Cornell president David J. Skorton.
